Eibach Sportline Springs

who has the Eibach Sportline Springs on their 182? how do you rate them? does the ride quality deteriorate dramatically? and what sort of drop do they give?

cheers

i believe the sportlines arent that harsh tbh, but wont drop as much as apex.

ive got apex on mine and there is more of a geniwine drop of about 40mm. The ride is not that bad at all too.

Apex springs will kill your dampers faster.

Eibach springs have different characteristics too, more performance related.

Eibach are the ones i would go for, i am not really too bothered about a massive drop tbh. just slightly better handling as i dont have the cup suspension.

Pro for go, sport for show!

I had Pro's on my Cup, there wasn't much of a difference in the ride height but a massive difference to body roll, etc.

I think they are very much worth it.

I didn't want a big drop etc at the time, just improved body control and handaling without affecting the ride quality too much.

They fitted the bill very nicely and you can really tell the difference to the std setup.

20-30mm drop is more than enough for me, which is what i believe they give? i have a non cupped 182, so i imagine it would drop it slightly. handling is what i am after though.

You'll be lucky to see any drop with the pro's mabye a smidge at the front but reduced roll for sure and they are still ok with OE dampers as quoted by Eibach but wouldn't expect the dampers to last as long. Sportlines which I'm running have dropped about 15mm or so but no more and these are best suited to an aftermarket damper (Koni etc) due to increased spring rate and being slightly lower. Both are very progressive springs imo though and as I've experienced the initial small bump comfort is no different to std (On std dampers) its only when you start to chuck things around that the Eibachs show their improved characteristics. One point to note - if you look at the Eibach application list you'll see for instance that the 172/182 sport Pro kit springs are the same units as the 1.4's etc so they quote the approx drop you are likely to see across that range of vehicles but as the 172/182 is lower out of the factory your drop from std ride height is going to be less than say a 1.4 variant...

Ride quality I'd say hasn't gone harsh. Although from std, yes it is slightly harsher. Sadly it is unavoidable.

Improved ride quality, hell yes!!! 10 times better. There is very very little roll on corners. Which to me makes the car handle excellent, gives me more confidence on corners.

When braking heavy, again there is very little roll if any at all.

Currently I have it on std shocks. One reason why I went on Sportlines and not something more aggressive. Eventually I hope to upgrade shocks.

One major plus, when I look at the car it gives me a big grin....
The profile from the side looks superb, and even more so from the front. To be honest I wish I'd measured it before hand but I didn't. So I can't really tell you how much of a drop its given me. I did have a small heart attack when I first read the box. It quotes a drop of 50mm. Although based on what I don't know. I've been advised that a drop of 20 upto 30mm max to be expected.

In short, an EXCELLENT mod that will give you instant feedback and excellent value for money.
And stops the car looking like a 4x4.

I have a non cupped 182 in the suspension department and have had eibach pros for a while.
To be honest you would really want shocks to match as it still rolls a fare bit when cornering drop wise it is noticable and imo looks good.

Rob.
P.S you will want shocks to match.... :-/ ????

I could be wrong, but I doubt it. I don't think shocks will affect the roll, more so what happens after the roll (bounce etc).

Best bet is to speak to Fred at YozzaSport. He fitted mine for me and is a top bloke to bug for some info over the phone.

Im pretty sure its all part of it mate driving straight and cornering!! Obviously a bit firmer all round so will take the lean out of the corners...

Sportlines are my first choice, very hard to get hold of, we've just sold the last set in the UK, no more for another 2weeks so think ahead if you're thinking of purchasing!

dont drive a 17/182 but have eibach pro's and love them, definately gave a bug improvement in handling, and ride quality isnt much different.
