The motor and combined regulator is knackered - you will need to replace it - 7700802027 £159.86 + vat from renault or £40 used ( breakers ) you cant buy the motor seperate - it comes as a complete unit

Same thing happened on my 95 RSI. Didnt want to pay the full price but found a 2nd hand motor at a breakers (off the shelf). Then got a small renault specialist (non franchise) local dealer to fit it as I couldnt be asked to do it myself as it looked like a bit of a work up. In all it cost me about 70 quid, which is better than the 250+ that the renault dealer suggested it would be.

Mine was intermittent, so I guess thats the same with yours. Whereabouts are you in the country? I could tell you where I got mine done if youre close.

Ah. Im on the south coast. Yeah it was for one side. When it first started happening I did the same as you, checked all the fuses, swapped out the switches with a mates, etc. which made sure it was the motor. Then I asked the renault dealer how much and ran away. Then I scoured the yellow pages for an independent renault specialist garage & gave them a call. They initialally said it would cost about 150- 200 notes if they used a genuine bit, but offered the idea of fitting a scrappy one. It only took 10 mins ringing round to get a motor (which had a 3 mth warranty with it). Are there any independent garages that specialise in renaults near you? Its got to be worth a go to save a few quid. Incidently I sold the rsi about a year after it was fixed & it was still fine then.
