Electronic fault light and car goes into limp mode

I've had my 1.4 Dynamique Clio for 3 or 4 weeks now and last night the electronic fault light came on and the car put itself into limp mode. It slowed down and wouldn't get any power past around 3000 revs.

I turned the engine off and back on whilst still rolling and a few minutes later it happened again. After a few hours I went back out for a drive in it again for about 30 minutes and it was fine though, no problems. Any idea how to go about solving this as I would hate to be in the outside lane of a motorway for it to suddenly go into limp mode.

I'm not sure if this would be related but I've had a new head unit, an amp with 6 x 9's (fitted the same day the problem occurred) and a subwoofer fitted into the car.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Back of the engine block there is sometimes a metal box holding some of the loom, this can fray the loom wires and cause all kind of problems.

There is a thread about it somewhere, search for it.
