I personally wouldnt trust them to change an air freshener let alone map a car.
They mapped my friends Nova, the job they did was absolutely terrible, I dont mean there were a few cells not quite right, I mean you could just take one quick glance at the tables and they were so contradictory that it was clear it hadnt been done properly without even seeing the car.
Not sure if it was because they dont know what they are doing or just couldnt be arsed, but it was among the worst mapping jobs I have ever seen, it was no surprise at all that it died very shortly after.
I'd love to hear JDM's excuses for it TBH (most tuners are good at excuses) as the errors were so fundamental that I would imagine they probably would just get embarassed and go quiet if it was mentioned.
The biggest problem they caused was they relied far too heavily on the throttle position to determine the timing, so if it was at 100% throttle and on boost it timed up ok, but if it was at half throttle and still making lots of boost (which it did) then it didnt r****d and det'ed its tits off, and also the Ve of the engine reflected in the timing adjustment was NOTHING like the VE of the same engine reflected on the fuelling adjustment.
Was a proper bodge job, no excuse at all for that sort of mess up IMHO
No aftermarket mapping job ever comes close to the quality of a manufacturer map generally just cause of time and cost constraints, but that sort of thing is just unforgivable, it wasnt just a little bit wrong, it was absolutely horrific.
By contrast though, just to give both sides of the story, a guy called nic barnes has his corsa mapped there and it seems to work well, not sure if its mapped better or only driven at wide open throttle, but just to show they dont melt every car they see.
JKM (in portsmouth) are another emerald specialists and they are very good, just in case anyone reading this things Im talking about the wrong company.
