Engine Bay Fuse Box White Plug

  172 Cup
Hi,

Had the squiggly electrical warning light of death and a P0120 code. Car was in limp mode but starting fine. It does need new injectors so i'll get those replaced as someone mentioned that was causing his error code. Also needs a pre-cat lambda so will change that (again...).

After some searching and reading many threads, it seemed the best place to start the error code diagnosis was that white plug in the engine bay fuse box and then onto the throttle body for a clean. Had a quick look and the plug really needed a clean.

I'll clean the throttle body soon, but meantime - in terms of cleaning that plug - a tooth brush and some compressed air sufficient? Do I need to unplug it and remove it from the engine bay and strip the plug itself? There's not a lot of room in there, or even slack to remove it from the bay.

I quickly removed it from the housing and gave it a very light clean. Once I reconnected the battery the electrical warning light is gone on the dash and limp mode is also gone. Although I have disconnected the battery several times over the past 48 hours and not once did that clear the warning light or limp mode, so i'm hoping it's as simple as related to the white plug and might even be fixed now but lol electrical problems in these cars are like Freddy Kruger, always return.

Cheers

Cheers. Looks like I need to remove the fuse box first then the plug simply splits into two and can give the connectors a sand etc.

Yeah, after having some water issues a few weeks back (heavy rain, going through a big puddle) and then from washing the car with a hose pipe this week I think I may have solved my problems. You can check on my posts and you'll read that I had a problem months ago with an engine 'cut' at low revs. I emailed Chris at EFI who told me it defiantly wouldn't be software related (he mapped the car a few months back and it runs perfectly) and may be the TDC sensor. However, the TDC sensor was new so I didn't suspect that. Long story shortish, there must have been moisture in the white connector. I unplugged it, blew it out with my mouth, WD'ed it and plugged it back in. So far all issues have gone and the car is 100% running right. I'll post up again if anything changes.
