Engine idle raised and surging

My daughter came home today with her 1.4 petrol Clio with higher than normal and surging tick over.
Would anyone know what the cause of this is?

Is it likely to be a sensor or pickup coil?

Sounds like a fault with the inlet track or breather system to me. IACV, Brake vacum line, possibly even the purge canister feed on the top of the TB is a common place for leaks to occur. If all check out have the manifold gaskets and IACV looked at.

When my plenum wasn't fully sealing, there revs would move up and down on idle
