Engine juddering when i start driving???

  Clio RS 197
Hi guys

I am writing this post on behalf of my work collegue who has got a 53 plate 1.4 Dynamic mk 2 clio.

She bought her clio brand new ages ago and was told that she had to wait 1min after she turned the ignition before she could start driving. She said that they(dealership) told her this because if she starts driving straight away the car starts to kangaroo for a short while at the start of the journey.

This happens throughout the year, but is fine if she drives after that 1min waiting period.

She hasn't heard it happen to any other car even mine, so would like to have your thoughts on what it could be or if you have experienced this fault with your clio?

If you could get back to me with any advice that would be much appreciated.

Look forward to hearing from you.:approve:

Many Thanks,

Chris :star:

havent had it on my car, but most of the bikes ive owned have done this.
as far as i know its just where the engines cold and your not getting enough power when you pull away, options are wait the 1 minute or so, or when pulling away keep the clutch lower and bit more power.
if its what im thinking of then its not a mechanical fault its just where its cold, but if it seems like something different get it checked out, have you driven it yourself?

Start the car and wait before you can drive it :S

NORMAL - ehhh NO! lol

Why would a dealer even let a car out if it was doing that?

There's some corker excuses coming out of workshops at the minute and this is a good one to... next they're be telling her to pump the throttle to get fuel up

Obviously this isn't right and its temperature related but, my question; does it only do this in freezing temps or does it do it at cold start everytime, regardless of the temp?

I suspect an issue with either the Ho2 heater, CTS, TPS or the IAC Circuit which in these, I believe, is the throttle body stepper motor. Either way it needs looking at by someone that isn't gonna spin her more yarn.

A mate of mine has a problem with his brakes randomly "sticking" and juddering
- he rang them up to ask them to look at it and they told him it was because of the frost! :slap:
Car is under warranty and everything and they said it will be fine - until it ends up with the wheels in the air!

Frost making brakes stick... good job we live in a so called "Moderate" climate then isn't it

Exactly - I said maybe first thing if the car has been sitting all night in the freeze you get the odd sticky brake
but not at random when the bloody brakes are warm

I got him to ask the dealer if they were prepared to supply wheel blankets under the warranty since they weren't going to anything else :rasp:

I forgot to say when my friend comes to a stop at a junction after putting clutch and brake in the engine cuts out. This only does it if she doesn't wait 1min or 2 before start driving her car. As mentioned this is happening in both summer and winter. Any other people have this fault as well along with the above?

Needs a service... basically the throttle body (and idle air control circuit depending on age of vehicle) needs cleaning out as it will be gunked up with oil vapour.

When this gunk is cold its pretty sticky and stops the finely controlled moving parts reacting as fast as they need to keep the motor running and so causes a stall. When its warmed up its a little more fluid and becomes a hindrance so doesn't cause the stall condition.

my cup does it, lumpy as hell unless you let it settle its a fuelling thing dump loads in when it first starts. only need a minute, start get comfy seat belt cars fine.

In my nissan manual it says you should start the car and not drive it for 30-1min. TBH i dont really stick by this rule but usually I turn the car on and get comforatble and so on thats probably 30 secs but your right nothing bad happens if you drive off straight away.
