Engine on its way out?? :\

Ive noticed recently a tapping noise coming from my engine, even after 15/20 mins of driving so im starting to worry as I cant afford a new engine atm (or a car to replace it :\) was just wondering if its series or just the colder weather we have at the moment as someone said it could be the camshaft or something. The engines a 1996 1.2 D7F (DIET) Engine. Any help/advice needed as plan to do about 800miles driving this week

Is the cambelt due?

I'd just run it tbh - if it goes bang a new engine is only 150quid max and fitting a couple of hundred. I'll also have a spare cylinder head with cam available in the next few weeks if worst comes to the worst...

No its not the cambelt that was done about 12k ago if the engine does go it wont be another 1.2 engine going in if I have it my way..
