  clio 16v
sounds like it to me matey!! name and shame the local place, to make sure no1 esle goes there!
it was just discs and pads, and fitting nothing else?

he might of well just gone somewhere like r-tec, i paid £180 for my black diamond disc's (grooved and xdrilled) and pads.

Nope, this was a girl without a clue with cars so I think they saw her coming...

Standard front disks, standard pads, + fitting. Only a lower model, not an RS model.

Y don't ring them for a quote on the same car and c what they say...if its different she can go there with the quote and ask them y!

£60 for disks £40 for pads then £70 for fitment sounds about right for a garage which charges over the odds.
Pads are £17 from halfords etc disk £50 from the same etc.
Fitment is 40 minutes.

i can get new discs for £12 each and pads are £8 - labour is 0.6 hrs £25. The owner of that garages wants flogging - especially for taking advantage of a nice young lady.

Paul I'd do this chap! give them a ring for a quote on the same car, if they quote any different go down there and demand the difference back, if they wont pay go straight to trading standards.

Ok - details are as follows:

Clio Expression 1.2

kwik fit Acton, 231 The Vale, London W3 7QE

Rang her at 09:25 to say it was the work below, then rang again at 10:44 to say it was ready to go (so an hour's labour max?)

Invoice is as follows:

Description..............Unit Price.....Qty...... Price inc VAT
Brake Disc...............£54.40.........2..........£108.80
Brake Pads...............£61.10........1...........£61.10
Supplies/Materials......£1.99.........1............£1.99

Total Price inc Vat................................ £171.89

(hope that comes out alright)

Paid by Credit Card. (could you ring the card company to dispute the transaction based on it being a rip off?)

I think that's taking the piss myself, though I imagine that it includes labour in the cost of the parts.

Thoughts?

ok - more research has revealed discs are about £50/pair TOPS and pads are about £20 for an ickle 1.2. (GSF)

An hour for labour at, say, £40, and I make that £60 of rip off on top...

And what the f**k is "supplies/materials £1.99"? That much for a squirt of copper slip or something??

Hmmmmm... :-/
