Eratic Revving and Running Problems

Hi,

For a while now I have an issue where my 172 will sometimes idle at up to 2000rpm and then other times it will be alright. The weird thing with it is that if i put my foot under the throttle and lift it up it will drop back down in revs to normal tickover.

Alongside this it runs a bit lumpy on tickover sometimes.

Are there any common problems with regards to these two issues i can have a look at. Just starting to get her in tip top shape for taking her to Sweden ice driving.

I'm guessing it's a ph1 172? Could potentially be a sticky spring.
