Evo Car of the year 2009

Not really tbh. Sounds pretty rattley to me and can barely hear the gears. Tbh I would say its just a nail from that video.

  Rally bus
Went off to set up Drivers Republic which failed. He's yet to return or crop up anywhere else as far as I am aware? Harris who was involved in the same venture now appears to be a regular at evo.

He's just joined CAR magazine.

  Better than yours. C*nt.
No cheap jokes about the stiffness.

So hands up who would like to see some in car footage of Brad showing his awesome skills?

;)

I'm yet to see in car footage of you doing anything remotely quick. By all accounts (even your own!) you're average on track so aren't really in a position to comment on other people's abilities.

At least when I did a trackday in my 182, Bibendum didn't come home and a couple of M3 owners went home with egg on their face...

Based on bradwanking24's comments i was just about to cancel my subscription to evo.

Then i saw him drive...

Cool beans,
Back on topic, has the new 911 Turbo officially been realeased in the UK yet? Auto car love it, if released next year it has to be a contender.

I think we can all agree that Brads a bit of a plonker. As for m3's, much like the 911 and mk2 focus rs I've gone past on track, it's clear none of them can drive. A well driven e36 pre evo can muller a well driven 182. Why don't you all stop waving your dongs before someone gets hurt ;).

Flol at hiding the embarrassment.

New 911 Turbo has been out for a little bit now. The 998 is the following year...

Dude ive got no embarrassment buying my car outright, i am just not going to rise to it any more (or atleast try not to), far from embarrassment ;)

Anyway, i havent seen any 997.2, you say theres going to be a 998 next year?

There is a 997 turbo, it's been around for a few yrs. The new version is an updated 997, not a 998. New engine, wheels, gearbox, and active engine mounts.

Ya ^^ 997.2 above, recently test driven by auto car, looks fab :p 3.8 instead of the 3.6

1st 911 turbo I've thought of as really desirable against the amv8's, r8's etc. Pdk must be great with paddles.

Yep, the gt3 did. Not sure why anyone would bother next yr. Straight fight between the macca and the 458 IMO. With the dsg boxes, better aero and electronics they'll make the 430/gallardo/r8 look old hat overnight.

Yeh good point, that macca (although not as pretty as the 458, in a non girly way as i am not Louise but Louis :p) They recon the tech under that macca is amazing. I think i read that due to the material used its the safest car to crash in lol

  Renault Clio S
True, but the Aston has more style and class. The Lambo is a lttle to ostentatious to feel confortable in.

I drove a Vantage V12 recently and it felt like it was constantly trying to leap off the road. Admittedly it was pretty bumpy, greasy and the traction control decided to stop working. The Evora steering was wonderful, the chassis felt sublime, but the back seats were a mockery and comprimised the front cabin, the engine was a uninspiring and the gearbox was nowhere near as good as the Clio 200. As a fresh-out-the-box model it's a great car, but I think some of this year's evolution models are better, albeit hamstrung by their lack of novelty factor.

Not a car for everyday use then, in your opinion?

Next year I'll reach a very respectable age and will be rewarding myself with a drivers track day thrash-about. Not sure which option to go for yet, probably something which invloves Ferarri's and Aston's, but still have a few months to decide.

I was expecting to be blown away by the Aston. I was blown away by the noise, and the beauty of it, but i didn't feel like it was a car I could really enjoy on a brilliant British B road. The R8 V10 and the Cayman S, on the other hand, rewarded from the get-go and felt like they would continue to reward for some time. And yet they were both utterly relaxing to drive when you weren't in the mood or on the right road.

Sorry, I just don't believe you. I haven't driven the Evora, but almost everyone that has, has raved about it. Not really sure you can compare them tbh.

What bit don't you believe me about? It's only a personal opinion. I'm comparing in the context of a car of the year competition just as Evo has.
I'm not saying it wasn't a great car, I'm just saying it wasn't quite the all-round, cohesive, mind-altering package that I'd hoped it would be having read all the hyperbole.

The Clio was definitely better. Although the Evora has probably had a hard life.
The again, the Clio I had hadn't exactly been pampered.

Perfectly plausible. All the lotus' I've driven have had anpoor shift. I'd love an evora, but it's certainly not meant to be perfect!

Although the Evora had a lovely long stride to it, which means you don't have to change gear constantly, I found it difficult to heal and toe and I never really felt like I was 'plugged' into the car because of the pedals/gearbox. I'm no Walter Rorhl, but I don't often find it a problem, and didn't expect it to be a problem in a Lotus. That really annoyed me. The Cayman S, despite being ubiquitous and a little ugly from a few angles, was such a perfectly honed instrument for driving that I could instantly see why Porsche win so many car of the year contests.
