Nice qoute from the article for 182 owners;

""..the overall picture is still looking horribly fuzzy. How could it not when youve just driven out of your skin along a truly fast and difficult road in a £60k 380Bhp Porsche but failed to shake-off a £14k hot hatch?"

Which is nice.

Delivered this morning. I subscribe, but I guess it should be in the shops too....

Anybody know of any reason why they havent colour coded the heaqdlamp washer covers on the 182 Cup?? Looks ridiculous!!

Pah, through the twisties would be another matter. I know someone with a williams that would have toasted the 911 and the 182 with his massive arms;)

Good result really, RS clios are truely the best sleepers out there. Ask most people and they will say its just a clio, but look what you can achieve in one.

CTR/ITR/LCRs show people from the outset what they are about, i love the sneak up and slap you thing with clios.

they havent, he said the washer covers which are the blanking plates to cover where they normally surface from the bumper, on the original cup they were body coloured but on the 182 cup they are just black.

This Months evo

his month the mag team went all continental with a trip to Maranello and a first drive of the new Ferrari F430. The car it has to beat is the Lamborghini Gallardo, both of which are put through their paces on Italian tarmac from the autostrada to Mille Miglia road race route. Still in our dream-like state we continue apace with not one but two Pagani Zondas - the Roadster and the C12S - and thats before we get to the Maserati, the Alfa and the Lancia...

The launch of a new Ferrari is reason enough to gorge ourselves on a diet of pure Italian exotica this month, so weve all had our snouts in the trough. Meaden gives his verdict on the stunning F430 and drives its deadly rival from Lamborghini on the same roads. Metcalfe tastes heaven in a Zonda Roadster in convoy with a C12S driven by Mr Pagani himself. John Barker dissects the legendary 250 LM which, incredibly, was the last Ferrari to win Le Mans outright. Of course, Ferrari has enjoyed class wins in recent years, and it was these that inspired the mad 550 LM which Bovingdon drives to its spiritual home. Its been quite a month

At the moment? Currently in production? Ummm no.

206 Gti? No. Mini Cooper S? No. Fiesta ST150? No. MGZR? No.

I dont think anybody is reading too much into the porsche comment..... apart from you that is.

Umm cupra r yes, civic type r yes, focus rs yes, mini copper s much under rated yes, fiesta st although slower in a straight line looking to out handle most cars on a track (went round fords evaluation circuit quicker thand the focus rs). Dont get me wrong its a brilliant car for the money but no.2 just shows that evo is about as independant as a renault cars salesman.

ROOOOOKIE alert!

all of the cars you said are better than the clio arnt in the same class of car and cost a lot more than the humble clio

sorry but no, see the price difference, thats because they are in another class to the 182, the 182 still keeps up and on price/performance cant be beat.

None of those cars are in the same market sector as the Clio (bar the MCS, which is good but loses to the Clio on performance and price), thus not direct competitiors. The fact everyone else apart from you (who are you anyway? Racing driver? Motoring Journalist? ahh thought not) rates the Clio on a par or higher than them is nice, but not really important.

As for the Fiesta, its in Evo this month. And they were wholly unimpressed with the handling.... Aside from the fact its slow.

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf

well done the clio....my copy landed on my doormat this a.m....They said its the best handling front driver ever and related it to the comments made by phill bennett earlier in the year as being brilliant

The cost, the handling and the performance per £ make it the best car because thats what evo is about......A few months back they stuck to their guns and slated the new aston martin...So much so that Aston rung them to see what input they could have and revised the whole chassis on this fact.....They dont just praise certain manafacturers incase they get a free car

ian

oh and dont get me started on the MCS, i drove and dealt with enough of those sh*tboxes, in my 6 year stint at a BMW/MINI main dealer. overpriced toss.

I am more eager than ever to see this elusive episode of 5th Gear....cant wait to see how Tiffs opinion totally contradicts Evos.

That it was the Focus ST 170 and NOT the Focus RS.

Nevermind hey - almost as good!

Anyway that aside you cant ignore the broad range of plaudits (from various sources - Top Gear, Evo, Auto Car etc. etc. etc. and even the Guardian). I rest my case - a fantastic little car!

just goes to prove that any magazine will give a great review depending upon what they have been offered ;) in their time reviewing the car

too many people now believe all these motoring press articles, and evo is one of (if not) the worst for unbelievable articles

yet still some people on here may aswell call it the bible

Why is Evo so "unbelievable"? What evidence do you have to proof what they write is a load of cack?

plus they are all ex touring car and serious drivers, aswell as being in the game for 30 yersa before they launched evo

I dont see Evo as the bible. If Im totally honest, I just like it for the pictures.

I can understand the fact that people may think that Evo were somehow bribed by Renault, but I cant believe that Renault have bribed every other magazine that gives the Clio a good review..... or maybe Im just naieve..
