Theres quite a few with duplicated numbers. How do i know this? Someone who works for reno told me theyre always getting people going in for new kickplates and finding out theyre been duplicated on different cars, hence more than 172... Reno strike again!

Look during the search for my cars Limited No. i have delved a lot deaper than you can imagine so please dont call me a liar, if pressed renault could provide you with a list of the cars and their original owners. However this is covered by the data protection act so they wont divuldge this info to us mere mortals. If you know something i dont then please do give some evidence as i would be most interested to hear of other 172 exclusive with authentication issues, but unless your gonna back these claims up with proof not hearsay please dont spout sh*t bringing into question the integrety of peoples cars. Mine as far as renault are aware is the only 172 exclusive that does not have a unique limited No. (Fact!)Quote: Originally posted by paddymph on 03 January 2004

when did i call you a liar?!
I am talking fact as far as I know it. Theres a guy who comes on here who works for Reno (most people probably know who Im on about anyway), he has told me that (nationwide) there has been requests for sill plates with the same numbers, on cars with different registrations, hence duplicated.
Silly me i thought forums spead rumours and all along its been gospel, thanks for enlightening me! Ususaly these little gems of info are posted out of jealousy or spite. Not sure this is the case with yourself as you already have a 172 so you would have nothing to gain, im just saying you should take whats said on here with a pinch of salt and not pass it on without a care to think of the reprocusions after sale value for one. I would love to know the name of this renault employee as he seems to know more than the top brass at alpine, diepee and UK HQ.
Maybe i should ask him what No. it is?
P.S i didnt say you called me a liar i was pre-empting it in your subsequent post
Thats Renult for you. When I went to them for some warently work a while ago I waited at the counter whilst the receptionist was talking to the mechanic. HE was telling her that the build sheets for the car werent right as the couldnt understand why parts didnt fit the car. Seems the who car was missing in the Renault system. The chassic numbers and plates and other car details matched up to another car in the system.Quote: Originally posted by Scribbler on 07 January 2004

Im begining to lose all faith in the system if Renault cant identify there own cars then i might just get a limited edition P1, 22b or Lancia HF evolution etc.
you cant get the numbered sill plates from renault.Quote: Originally posted by paddymph on 04 January 2004

Its not about authentication issues, its about Reno making more than 172 and running out of numbers, simple as.
probably because it was a renault show car and was never issued with one.your right about the plates though, numbered ones are not avaliable from renault.was your service ok? seen it in the workshop this morningQuote: Originally posted by Scribbler on 07 January 2004

The P1 is not numbered either, although it is said to be a limited run of 1000 cars. I came very close to trading the Cup for one a while back.Quote: Originally posted by Scribbler on 07 January 2004

You can, well if you know the right person.
Thats how i know all this, does it not occur to anyone the reason it aint number could be because its past the 172nd one?
lol. Contradiction there?Quote: Originally posted by paddymph on 04 January 2004

This is not in question, i can get them made as a replica to retro fit as i know people in that trade. However you cant get the genuine plates from renault as they only made 172.
My car probably is 173 show car or the real No1. proto-type getting renault to admit it either way is the problem. The vehicle was first registered in Wales at Gravells garage which still exists
however they were of no help just another dead end seams renault are only interested in selling new cars, then your their best friend and all smiles.
as far as i know its the only 02 registered 172 exclusive but this
does not mean it was the first or the last.
P.S. no not to 100% on the service read the gordon lamb thread in the dealers section Jay.
