Extracting rar files

Ok I use newgroups to download stuff and most of the files come in rar groups, I was just wondering if theres a way you can only download some of the rar files without having to download the full series of them. I tried downloading only the second half of a video but when I try to extract it it says "The Next Volume is Required" i.e. it wants the rest of the series.
I'm using winrar to extract, anyone know if it's possible to do this and how?

You have to download a complete rar set.

Sometimes rars come in two sets for a 2 cd release, in that case you could just download the 2nd rar set. But remember to get all the files in the rar, you can also use the par2 files to fill in blanks and missing sections.
