Washed the motor as normal, noticed tiny yellow lumps here & there.

Turns out it's pollen or similar from trees etc

Whats best for removing it, it's stuck to the collinites well:eek:

How fresh is it?

If it's fresh just use your PW should remove it cos i got them and they came off with my finger.

It's fresh as very sticky & spreads rather than rubbing off!

Yea the PW should get it off, no need to clay otherwise your gonna have to reapply your wax again.

You shouldn't need to clay, that only comes into hand when it's been there over night and it's dried on.

+1 on the pressure washing.
My car gets parked up outside my Mrs' house overnight quite regularly, and is always covered in tree sap, pollen, bird s**t etc in the morning.
Pressure washer gets the lot off. Just be careful not to pressure wash your wheels' centre caps if they're standard ones. Mine have started peeling because of it.

Whole car gets pressure washed to blast the loose crap off.
Then the whole car gets washed with ordinary Auto Glym bodywork shampoo and conditioner.
Then the car gets pressure washed again to wash all the newly loosened dirt and bubbles off it.
Alloys only ever get washed with ordinary car shampoo. I do have an alloy wheel brush (which is actually an old toothbrush) for getting into the corners, but I never use that on the centre caps. They never need anything more than ordinary car shampoo and a bit of elbow grease.

I think you should try a better car shampoo, sounds like summat has made the laquer peel from the alloy.

I know pressure washing can remove paint if put too close. Maybe the previous owner used wonder wheels on the alloys.

I've no idea what the previous owner used TBH. It was a woman though, so it could have been nail polish remover or some s**t for all I know.
It's not too much hassle to get them re-done really. I just don't want it to keep happening.

If you wanna stop it happening when you've got it done, make sure the caps have cured when you get them done.

Then wash with an acid free wheel cleaner like bilberry then polish with AG SRP and use a sealent to help with brake dust and road grime.

Cleaning cars and keeping the upto a standard is VERY expensive.

Thats the one. No tried it, but may get a wee bottle.

Do it, better than claying or leaving a towel on the bonnet.

you just spray it on where the bugs are leave it for a min or 2 and the PW off. :D

Good luck Steve. Mine has been covered since the day I picked it up. Tar comes off easily enough, but the yellow spots don't. I used AG Intensive tar remover on the tar, which worked a treat.

I reckon clay is the only way you'll ever get a white car spotless. Check out the Lambo detailing thread!

I never clay off bugs! lol.

Some people do because on a hot day the wash wont fully remove the dried on bugs and not everyone has heard of bug squash.

I mean this fella said his pollen was fresh, yet they all said clay it off. :S

It all depends if you let the spots dry on the car, then obviously they are gonna be harder to remove.

But if you've just washed your car and you can smudge the pollen then get the PW on it.
