Fact Or Fiction?

couple of things that have baked ny noodle for a while, just wondering if anyone could shed some light on them.... are they fact? or fiction?

a, "Every now and then its worth giving your car a good pasting to give it a good *clear out*"

b, "NEVER rag your car unless its reached temperature PLUS 10 minutes so that the oil is up to temperature too"

thoughts?

Yep worth giving them a killing ever now and again clean out the exhuats also get the fuel pressure up to blow out and deposites etc.

I'd say up to temp plus 5 mins or so modern Clio don't have oil temperature gauges but the Mk1's did and it toook about the same amount of time for the oil as coolent to warm up so 5 minutes extra won't hurt plus just covers incse the driving your doing warms the coolent (from which the gauges work) up quicker than the oil.

Better to take your car on a nice long run get everything up to temperature. Using is better than abusing it. TLC is what is needed. Weekly maintenace checks Oil water brake fluid visual checks hoses wiring etc.
If you rag your car alot it will break eventually. Then cost mucho $ to fix.
The choice is yours. Depends how flush you are with $ :)

Fuel pressure is constant, ragging it wont 'blow out deposits'.

Funnily enough, i've always seen the general case where cars that are totally abused tend to give next to no problems. Ones which are lavished with care and pootled about in are the one that always have problems.

I was thinking that running at higher rpm etc you'd help clean the injectors.
My maing thinkign on the pressrue was my diesel perssure doesn't get up till about 2k.

  None
I always drive my car at highish revs and never have any probs with it. Valves tap a bit sometimes but the cars on 83k

Agreed, the ones that have been abused from day one tend to be the faster ones too
