false floor

anyone got any tips on how to make a false floor?

im gonna be attempting it tommorrow. any advice/tips would be helpful

take out your boot carpet, trace onto mdf, cut out hey presto, false floor that fits your boot! remember, if the floor is raised the shape may vary slightly so may be best to make it slightly (few mm) bigger than you want then keep taking it down till it fits perfect.

and dont let mates help with the jigsaw, i had two round cuz i was helping them make a false floor for his saxo and the monkies blew my jigsaw up

Hmm, I did a raised false floor - the top isnt the same shape as the bottom.. so, becareful.. heh. The carpet trick only works in the bottom half of the boot!

thought this would b easy!! how hard is it to fit a perspex or plastic screen into the boot and where could i get one from?

i dont know if this is any help to you? but ive attached some pics of the false floor im currently making at the mo. Its a lightweight floor and weighs next to nothing (ive jigged holes all the way through to save weight) im going to carpeting it today and finishing the lid. Ill post more pics once complete.

Looks pretty nifty mate! What did u make it out of?? (I know wood! but MDF etc)

What i did was cut the carpet out exactly, even the bit that go underthe luggage bar (dont know what its called the bit to stop stuff flying forward), took this off, then put the wood down the bar back on top so it was clamed (didnt want to go drilling and gluing) and then built the supports for the top.



But you have to have a mk3 to understand were im coming from!!
