false floor

new amp should come on friday so ive started building my false floor for the boot, gonna have two layers and sink the amp. Its going quite well so far, just wondering...what do you use to glue the carpet down?

3m spray glue os ok, but spray evo stick will b much better. what i used to do mine. also staple gun it dowm underneath. assures it will stay in place then.

Go for the spray stuff, it as strong as anything out there. Infact, cant believe im admittin this but, my friend stuck it to the wrong side, and it was a fekin pain to take it off...lol. Good luck

the auto leads spray glue is good, infact its superb, if u use memory carpet (the kind which u hold in place for ages and it remembers the shape ) then u will not need to staple, just leave loads spare and trim when its dry

spent a good 4 hours building my false floor today...clio boot is a killer aint it.

Made a test out of scrap wood, got a good fit then made the proper one out of 15mm MDF. then carpeted and it fits nicely..and i suppose its time to start the amp installation:(

John how did you do yours?

dis you use the black plastic seat bar cover to rest it on?

na i cut a bit of timber into 4 bits, and nailed them to the four corners of the mdf floor. so it sits perfect in my boot and it covers that plastic bit.

was looking in my dads civic boot, making a false floor for it would have been so much easier...why did the clio have to have such an odd shaped boot:)

I need to make one for mine, with sides and a back...

Back is easy, its just square (loose just a little bit of space, but then the boot looks square to look at) and the sides have been made a lot easier by Derv, who sent me the templates and dimensions to make them.. Just gotta find them again!

Daz.

took me about 1hr 30 mins to make mine if that. isnt very hard to do really as the boot i quite square. took the carpet out and sued it as a template to start with and then just did few minor adjustments.

Just looked for my side templates, and cant find them.. looks like Ill be out with the cardboard then :(

yeah if you can take your carpet out its a good template, the clio carpet only covers the square bit in the middle really. misses the curved edges so i just made a template from scrap and made lots of adjustments:) quite satisfying now its done.

btw tom I just checked, my floor dosent cover over the plastic bit, it basically just stops at it, sorry must be losing my mind
