struggles to go past 80 in 5th
 
I told him there was no chance he even did this.
My car struggles to get to 70 in 5th gear never mind getting to 80 in 3rd

You say about struggling to get to 80 in 5th, but to be honest it all depends how hard you're willing to push the engine. When i first got my car i really thought it was awful on motorways and had no power at all, but now i'm willing to take it to the top end of the revs its quite different, i'm not pretending its quick, but you can get more from them than you'd expect if you were willing to push it.

I deffo got to 85ish in 4th once.... was overtaking a muppet who decided he'd like to keep up with me (thankfully on a dual carriage way).

As long as you use the full rev range the 8v dosnt feel "slow" until you get past 80, without actually doing it i think i could probably hit 80 in 3rd all be on right on the limiter.

Does it have a rev counter and rev limiter?

Get a good run onto the motorway and just hold it in 3rd till you hit the windscreen when the valves start bouncing. lol

I managed 120mph at 3am on my private road going to santa pod. Still had about 500 revs to go aswell.
Was quite surprised as i had 3 people in the car with me :S

i had three people in as well

i think i could ov had more but my private road had a small bend and didnt wana come off the road at that speed

A decent 16v 1.2 will do 80mph in 3rd and 100mph in 4th, well mine used to, thats at around 6k.

+1. Mine at 80 in 3rd is pushing to around 6400ish rpm its literally just about to hit the limiter. Its best to change up at 70 realy.

Mine will evenually pull to 100 in 4th too. Gutless in 5th though.

It dies after 60!

I don't have a rev counter so I've no idea how close I was to the limiter, but I got up to about 70-ish in 3rd, probably less.

80? No chance.

After a quick test managed to get 77mph'ish before i changed as i didnt wanna hit the limiter, think it probably would just do it, despite sounding like it wanted to explode.

The only thing that changes limiters etc is a re-map yes?

That would mean that no matter what mods (air-filter, breathing mods etc) the limiter would always be 78ish mph?
