After a bit of your input guys....

I dunno if you saw the thread, but I've bought the Missus a new Mk3 Clio Dynamique (in pearl black:approve: ). The salesman offered the usual "Supagaurd" treatment for £300, which I politley declined.

What I want to know is what exactly is this 'Supagaurd' and is it possible to do a similar thing yourself? Inside and Out?

£300 seemed a ridiculous amount of money.

.

Tbh you're better off scotchgaurding the interior and using a good quality synthetic sealant and pocketing the not inconsiderate difference in cost.

You did the right thing declining IMO.

A good sealant such as Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection applied a couple of times of year is just as good.

You can buy the kits cheap on ebay if you really do want to DIY it.

I would just stick to good normal products though.

Jay - Clio looks fantastic!! Did it need PC'ing?? Brand new?

So you reckon Scotchguard the interior and the usual paintcare on the outside should be good enough?

Will be ideal I reckon.

When I brought the 182 I wanted the interior done but they would only do the whole package.

  Clio Trophy #355
I had my Trophy Supagarded by the dealer before delivery (they did it twice in fact...).

I'm not that impressed to be honest, its suppose to mean you dont need to wax it for 3 years, but i've now started to use other cleaning products on it which give a much better finish, and i'm sure just as good protection. It certainly didn't protect the paint from being etched after having bird sh*t land on it which was cleaned off the same day.

To be honest you wouldn't know it had been done (thats how they did it twice, lol!). Shine wise I get much better results from my other cleaning products.

Some of the stuff in the aftercare kit works quite well, but nothing you couldn't get with some off the shelf products really.

If its cheap, say sub £100 i'd probably have it done again on future cars, but wouldn't pay more than that.

Cheers guys.

When she gets it, no doubt the stealers will have washed it and put some scratches in it. I'll give it a good going over and a few coats of #16. Should come up lovely.

my cupra came with it on (i didnt ask for it, it was already on ), but one proper polish and all the supaguard was removed, its a real waste of money imo, oh and when they induce swirls doing it, its a costly waste of money too

I had diamondbrite done for free as part of my deal.

But to be honest cleaning and caring for your car is part of the love of owning in my opinion and would never have had it done if i had to pay for it.

Having said that the interior protection is always worth having. This can be done as a seperate entity buy specialists.

I also found some unwanted maring and scratch's, tho if that is down to the process or some spotty little urchin doing the prep before i picked it up i dont know...

As a side note I reckon having diamondbrite will no doubt help when i come to sell, tho im not even thinking about that just yet...
