Just purchased a 2nd hand canon 300D, comes with the kit 18-55mm lens...What lens would you suggest buying as a 2nd lens, If any?

canon 50mm f1.8 is a great cheap lense its never off my camera
if you want telephoto Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG MACRO

but it all depends what you want

tbh i don't know. just a decent all round lens i guess. I have heard the kit lens' arn't overly great.

can kit lens aren't the best. Nikon on the other hand....

Plenty out there! 55mm is only 3x zoom and to be honest... having just that range and lens is a waste of an SLR!

just to get used to the camera the canon 50mm f1.8 is fantastic only about £55

remember 55mm is actually 88mm on a crop sensor

also the amount of magnification isnt important after all your feet do it for free

You will be amazed how creative you get with a fixed lens, and the 50mm is pro-quality glass, the sharpness and clarity is up there with lens' that cost 15 times as much.

But your feet may not always be able to get close enough!!

Then again... the G9 only has 6x so my feet have to walk anyway!

yeah tbh i found my self needing to zoom with a compact but not the slr i find it more fun using the prime
