Can you tell me if this gearbox

will fit into a 1.6 16v laguna 1998 facelifted model or how i can find out if it fits ? Also how big a job is changing the gearbox to do myself ?

The correct gearbox code for a 1.6 16v laguna is a JB3 910. The JC5 box will fit on the K4M engine ( 1.6 16v ) but you will run into problems..... the TDC sensor mounts will be different and also the digital impulse speedo sensor may be different as some are actually powered of the ABS pump and some have a sensor in the gearbox - The oval plate number for a 1.6 16v laguna is a B568 and a 1.8 16v is a B564 - The box thats meant to fit a 1.8 16v is a JC5 095 / 097. Personally mate i would give it a miss

Do you think it is a knackered gearbox ? Gonna change the oil and get the mounts tightened see if that makes a difference if not im guessing a new gearbox will be needed Is this a hard job to do
