Good Afternoon Everyone,

Hope you can help me. I have a media pc I have built which is going to be used in my living room as a jukebox type machine (basically holding all my music) and will connected to an amp so I can play music throughout.
I am after an OS I can use on it which will not be resource hungry (machine only has 512ram and a P4 chip) but will have a decent program on it for being able to play music and hold a libary. Also, it must support be able to connect to my wireless network.

What would you recommend? I have got Windows MCE on my laptop and am not a big fan although it does the job. And because I am tight I don't want to buy another copy. Will Ubuntu be any good for what I am after? I am pretty new to Lunux (although used to use Red hat a long time ago).
Thanks in advance :)

I'm running Ubuntu 7.04 and I've found it great, I'm sure KDF recommended a media centre version of Linux but I can't remember what it was.

Remember if you want to try a distro of Linux you can always download it and run it from the Live CD and try before you commit to it.

Yes, MythTV is what your looking for or more specifically the MythMusic plugin (see the other thread). If you are just looking for a good music jukebox program without the full frontend just use amarok

If you use an ir reciever (either on a capture card or bought seperatly) you can use a IR remote to control MythTV (or amarok). Set it all to autostart with autologins etc and you can do away with the keyboard and mouse if you want..

If you get stuck just post up on CS there are quite a few linux guys on here now who im sure will be glad to help.
