FAO: Mac bods.... problem...

Lil sis just rang, Just went to use her iBook and all her photos/tunes/widgets have dissappeared? i told her to reboot and now all her docs are gone too? wtf?
My mac has never crashed ONCE in my 3 years of ownership.

Any ideas? apparently someone in the household may have used it before her whilst she was out, but shes waiting for them to get back...

Althought saying that... if anyone knows about systems that crash, it be them :quiet:

It sounds silly but is she logged in?
This happened to me once and it was because i logged in under a different name.

Boot from CD (on startup keep C pressed) run disk utility just to be safe

Just spoke to her, she's deffo logged in... got her to log out etc.

Weird thing is... when she checks her drive space, its all still used up as if everything is there. Weird right...?

Even her wallpaper has reverted back to a mac one.

I think if you manage to get sis logged back in ok, get her stuff backup ASAP!

im sorry i cant help you there, happened to my gf on her pc laptop, exactly the same thing.

your sis will be able to find all of her work within all the system files, the equiv of a pc's c: drive and my documents.
