Faulty catalytic converter ?

  CLIO MK2 "98
Folks
my Clio 1.4 rt '98 Mk 2 is back firing, hesitant and tries to cut out. It starts ok first time then after about 6 seconds, (when something kicks in ?) ,the problems start.

I replaced the Engine coolant temp. sensor, and checked/cleaned the TDC sensor. I also replaced the ignition coils and leads
It sounds like the cat is knackered , but could some one confirm a dead/blocked cat converter could cause this problem ?

thanks guys.

Chas

Will do, thanks mate.

:approve:

I have just checked the TDC sensor resistance and its 240 Ohms, it should be 220 Ohms, is this acceptable or an indication of a faulty TDC sensor.
The MAP sensor appears ok. What should I look out for in the throttle body ?

thanks

Chas

There a 50Ohm tolerance I think so should be OK. They fail so much might as well change it.

Check the throttle bdy is clean and works correctly.

You did replace the coils and leads with the correct ones?
