faulty speedo and trip computer

Ive got a Ph2 172 and my speedo and trip computer arent working. The speedo doesn't work for bout 90% of the time. took my car to a renault dealer and they couldnt find a problem with the car. Ive taken the dash off and checked the cables and there fine. what else could I try and look for?

Does the rev counter and other instrument lights work? what about mpg etc or is the whole display gone?

the rev counter, petrol guage, temp all work fine wiv no problems. the trip computer lights up, but it doesnt work. my milage doesnt go up either.

Can you cycle through any trip computer functions but they just display crap? or does it just light up orange and doenst display anything?

The trip computer can cycle through all the stuff, but the figures arent right. but when the speedo works now and again, the trip computer works. but stops when the speedo stops working.

Checked the connections on the plugs?

I would say given the info you have provided that the ABS sensor is damaged or the connector in the fuse box is corroded or unpluged.

The abs sensor is the kerbside one it feeds to the speedo, the connector is clipped to the left hand side inside the engine fuse box it has 3 wires one is yellow one red one black, you may also have a green one depending on the year of your car, check this connector is ok.
