back to the important point though, the whole marketing machine thing now has destroyed some games, namely those that aren't 3D.
Many games these days should be 2D, but they just won't do it because there its all gone so mad that people dismiss them without even thinking about it. Has any recent Sonic game been better than the 2D efforts? Not a chance!
Thats why I'm so drawn to the GBA and DS, limited technical ability means they actually concentrate on the concept and the game. But with consoles they don't even explore the full ability of the machines before they are replaced, meaning that we just get revisions of games already available i.e. nearly all the 360 games.
I don't see why its "weird" to like older games, I would say its "weird" to spend the best part of £300 and then £40 a game just to play -in the main- graphical updates of current XBox titles. I'm gaming because I love gaming, and that means hunting out great games away from the marketing and the hype, and just enjoying them for what they are, even if they happen to be 10 years old. NHLPA 93 is a good example, why should I feel forced to play some naff 3D current gen Ice Hockey game when IMO NHLPA 93 has never been bettered?!
