Female named drivers

hey all, I have been reading about how putting female drivers on your policy as a named driver reduces (in some cases) your premium. I am wondering, when I come to renew my policy in May, could I put my sister or mum as a named driver even though they both have thier own policies on their own cars? If I can, if crash will they also lose their no claims?

Just wondering...

So, If I was to put me as the mian driver (as its my car and I will be using it the most) and my mum as a named driver as she will only be using it maybe once a month. Is this prefectly legal? How in hell does it make it cheaper?

By the time I have to renew, I will be:

21 yrs old - 0 NCB (had a crash...doh)

1.2 16v Clio 02

0 Points/Convictions.

Just out of interest, Does any 1 go with MoreThan insurance?

I think its cheaper because the insurance companies view you as less likeley to take a risk, when its not just you wholl be inconvenienced if you have an RTA, its the named driver too.

Adding my wife to mine dropped it from £600 to £398!

Bit of a dodge area insuring the car under your parents name the whole idea is that the main driver is the policy holder so infact if your going to druive it 90% of the time then if you have a crash and they find out you use it for work/college every day then they can start kicking up a fuss with the insurance.

Id pay for the policy in your own name as the more NCB you have the cheaper insuracne will be next yr more so than your parents having an exytra yrs NCB and you having none still.

Its cheaper though as the main driver (the policy holder) is the one who is most likely to have a crash as there supossed to be the main driver so an older female is less likly to crash than a young lad.

Read it properly, he/she said they wanted to be the main driver with their mother as a named driver, which is fine!

I saved £400 on my insurance this yr im 20 1 claim 1 yr ncb. By adding my mum my sisters girlfriend(26) and my girlfiends mum.

You should also take in to account the jobs they have/you have as this seems to make alot of difference. i.e how much stress, responsibility you have.

I never knew about this!!! There really should be some kind of Insurance forum!

I would be willing to make a simple one which could be liked to a sticky on here? Summit along the lines of "Unofficial ClioSport Insurance Forum" ?
