Across the back of the pad if I have read correctly. I have never personally fitted any so I may be wrong though!

On the two ends that stick out, they need filing so they will slot into the recess on the caliper. Its obvious when you come to do it

You have to file (I used a mini grinder, much quicker) the ends off about 2mm. per end or just enough so they drop in to the caliper. You may also find they still wont fit in due to a shoulder moulded in the caliper at the piston side, again more grinding is reqd. on the chamfers either side of the spring fitted to the pad.
There is a pretty picture showing where to file in an earlier thread.

I didn't need to file down anything on my DS pads they fitted fine. Where's these pics then?

if you remove the shims, you only need to file a little off either end. basically enough to go through the paint and a little bit more.

Odds are they'll stick when hot. People don't grind them down for the fun of it!

Had to file quite abit off mine just to get them to sit in the carriers even with the shims removed. Had to take even more off due to them binding once the backing plate expands due to heat. Still get abit of squealing under very light braking.

Cheers guy good info, i find this strange as the people who make these must check they fit first before selling them as clio172/182 pads.lol.

I willdo a thread when i have completed them in a few weeks.

^they're race pads, so not for your everyday punter if you get what i mean

and if i told you how they make after market pads you'd understand the tollerance issue!!!

I dont use my car for tracks, so what you recommend then? also if i filed them to give a tolerance whould they be ok?

Whats peoples thought on Greenstuff?

GreenStuff is alot worse than standard pads. When I took the GreenStuff pads off mine, the material fell off the backing plate. I found they weren't to bad at 1st but once they started getting hot, it didn't take them long to fade and that wasn't track work either.

ok so has anyone else got any surggestions on road use pads or should i just stick with standard? what about pagids?

i think one person has had problems with friction material seperating from the backing plates, but CL RC5+ seem v good to me (strong from cold, which is critical on-road imo)

Fred, thanks - i might take the carrier springs out, to see if that allows a mil

My DS2500's squeeled like crazy even without shims - found out they were rather glazed over!! Since rubbing down they are almost squeel free :)

JS_182. If you just using the car on the road then use the OE pads, they are the best ones for what you need.

is there anywhere i can get these cheaper than the renault dealership?

Yes, At GSF 10% off, take your Cliosport members card and specify you want OE pads.
Or Euro Car Parts (only Leeds branch do our discount) and again specify OE pads.
They will come in the manufacturers boxes, not the pretty blue ones as at the Renualt Dealers, but they are the same quality.
