Few Questiosns - Finance? Car Value? Buying New car?

  172 cup
Right I know there is a thread that says dont start one about what is your car worth, however I couldnt work out how to use the websites properly, Ive also tried What Car and my car isnt even on the list they supply.

So I have a few questions:

Roughly what is my car worth?
Its a 2001 Clio Sport 16v with 70k on the clock, very good condition

Can you sell a car thats on Finance?
Ive asked similar questions to this before but I want to get all the info in the one thread

How do you go about buying a new car with cash?
Strange question I know but I've never bought a car of much worth with cash before? If your buying from a private seller would you turn up with a wod of say £4k in your back pocket? Any suggestions as to how you get the car checked over before parting with your cash.

All info very welcome

eh? b****cks! You can maintain the finance and swap 101 times if you wish!

get a loan or an overdraft...You'll pay a 1% set up fee and 3% over base per month just to have the facility. Thats what i do for cars/property/busienss. It's alot safer!

Your car is worth approx 1500£

To answer your other questions i pay bankers draft.

According to Glasses guide, your car is worth £1200 in 'excellent' condition at trade-in. So £1500 privately i would have thought.

You need to settle your finance before you can sell it, unless you find an idiot who doesnt HPi properly ....

not to sound a prick laura (At all)

but i thought you were in s**t loads of debt etc etc? Have you really got the money to be forking out for a new car? running costs are £££ compared to the 1.2

My 1st new clio was bought on Renault finance over 3 years. decided to sell it after 2years and just sold it privately, told the buyer I had a loan on the car, once the money had cleared and they'd taken the car, I called Renualt finance to tell them I was buying a new car, they couldn't match the new deal I wanted so I settled it up there and then

So I guess If Im honest with whoever buys it and they are ok with me settling the finance once they have handed over the cash its ok?

Windfall or not...The 172 isn't worth putting yourself in a "Tight financial" postion. Your old enough to make that call! 3500 Gets mine! ;)

Is a bankers draft like a bank cheque - sorry if that sounds dumb just never had to use one before.

I wont be in a tight financial situation hun - I wouldnt do it if I were, If thats the case I would have bought a 172 16 months ago instead of a 1.2

for a bankers draft you go to your bank with your card and some ID usually and just say you want X amount to be paid to "the guys name your buying the car off" as a bankers draft.

its just like a square piece of paper/cheque looking thing and you give it him in exchange for the car.

consider it as an "x" thousand pound note.

i thought they are a garentee that you have the funds available. So a bankers draft of 2k means i have 2 k in my account and accept this paper thing as a form of garanteed check. Otherwise a check can bounce.

There is nothing TO get to those of you who seem puzzled.

The topic of the thread is as my first post, Ive asked various questions and am looking for help/advise etc on said questions

Yes you can sell your car if it's on finance, the finance company don't give a sh1t what you do with it as long as you're paying them what you owe.

Also any car you're looking to buy get an HPI check done, worth the couple of quid it costs.

  Ph2 172 Cup
I wouldn't recommend turning up with cold hard cash and certainly don't disclose that you have a big wad of money on you. If you are buying while the banks are open then just take the trip when the deal is agreed.

Always get an HPI check done on the registration in advance then complete it over the phone with the VIN etc... While you are there. Particularly on a 172 it's better safe than sorry.

Remember you can always walk away!

I arent that clued up on car finance being honest. But I arent gonna let that stop me having an opinion. I arent adverse to paying cash for a car.

I sold my 1.2 with a small amount outstanding, was 100% honest with the buyer and settled the outstanding once I had received the monies from the new owner. :)
