Finally parted with my cash!

  VX220
Right well after stalking this forum for a while and looking at a good deal of cars i finally found one that hadnt been reversed into a lamp post, had 74k miles on etc etc the list goes on.
I decided against the pug 206 gti and went for the clio and im really happy that i made the right choice.
Went for a ph2 52 plate with 45k on it in iceberg silver. I have to wait a week for the MOT service (including belts) wheels to be refurbed and some scratches touched hope. Hopefully by next weekend.
Felt slightly different from driving my 1.3 k reg micra!!!

Just want to say thanks for all the info on here which really is such a great help and is defenitly worth my fiver which i shall be parting with now!!!
thanks again
Chris

Just make sure that they change the cam belt and aux belt.

If they snap that, will be expensive repair.

Looks mint!

nice car mate, my 54 plate 182 is that colour though its had to go back after 2 days of owning it due to it snapping the clutch cable, heatshield is rattling on the exhuast and the hazards wont switch off...welcome to the world of owning a french car lol!

cheers guys and girls,
yeah the micra is something 'special' compared to the clio. All the mod cons on the clio and an engine and 4(dodgy) wheels with the micra!
Have to travel from Bournemouth to Guildford every couple of weeks to and from uni so hopefully this is going to be more of a pleasure and less of of a moving time bomb!
Although i will now have to find an alternative work out as i now have power steering and clutch with feels like it might just actually want to be pushed down with out fighting back!
To be fair the micra has done me proud as a first car but is on its last legs and the thought of an extra 100bhp or so under the bonnet really does just make me want to have it tomorrow! but as they saw the best things come to those who wait...unless your waiting for anything from O2 but dont get me started!!!
cheers
chris

Resprayed front bumper!

How can you tell that from a picture? It does look a slight difference in shade, is that what you are going off or are there other ways to tell? I just thought it was the pic.

Car looks very nice. Always been a fan of those iceberg silver 172s.

the wings on most silver clios are different because plastic has a different reaction to metal when painted...hence the difference in colour. nothing can be done about that. you wont notice it untill it starts to get darker or if you run a UV light over said areas

Good spot. These along with the service/renault stickers under the bonnet, on the upper grille are a good sign that its had a re sprayed/replacement bumper.

It definitly had the service stickers on the bumper under the bonnet. Im going to get it HPI checked anyway as I now have butterflies!
Maybe the micra will remain victorious!

no need to worry matey, a bumper respray is pretty common as the renault paint chips pretty easy at the front

it could be something very simple like respray stonechips or replace small parking crack in the bumper etc

dont let it worry you, most renaults have had a few things replaced within their first few years of life anyway lol

arrrr cheers i see what your on about now.
Is it likely that it has been resprayed or somebody just removed them?
I have a couple of other pictures so can you tell me anything else? is it really a 1.4 cloned or even better is it a V6 in a 172 body...ha ha i wish.

  VRS
its more than likely a respray or a replaced whole new bumper as you wouldnt really try and take off the stickers

  VX220
ok cool, this is exactly why i joined this group. cant get this information this quickly by actual people who have owned these cars anywhere else!
i tip my hat to you!

you can see them here:

just above the number plate at the side of the vents near each corner of the headlights if that makes sense lol

Yup i get you, im sure the design team spent hours trying to work out where they could place a couple of stickers...or do they force cold air through the grill :) ...maybe ill negotiate some money off!
cheers

Aye wouln't worry. I'd say its had a replacement bumper, but kept the original grille. A new boxed grille from renault doesn't come with the servce/Renault stickers :)

FYI - If you've already bought it & you hpi it, they won't cover you if anything later turns up about the car, you hpi it first.

Recently I bought my 02 172 Iceberg silver sport and I noticed that the wings look different shade to the bumper, just put it down to the plastic wings etc......

Just looked at mine and noticed that the Black stickers are also missing on mine, must of had some painting done....

where can I get them Black stickers from?

cheers, i have only put down a deposit. does it still not happen if you have warrenty?
I'd get it hpi'd before I paid for it.

The warranty will usually be for if parts on the car break, the hpi part is separate.

Eg, say that hpi say that the car is un-recorded & you buy it, then they later say that it is recoreded etc, you'll have a come back against them.

Cheers ill have a browse and see what it says! to be fair im pretty sure she said it was HPI clear so i might give them a call tomorrow and ask if they have the print out.
Also is there any clear way of identifying the the belts have been changed with out just taking their word for it.
cheers
