First post, first help

  1992 Clio MK2
Finally, I found the right forum. As you all know, I am indeed new to the world of Clio/s.

Before I start, I am only 17 and have accomplished my driving test. I own, a 1993 Blood Red MK2 Clio with alloys already fitted but look atrocious (I think)

So I have decided to treat myself to a full set of alloy wheels, as well as tyres. Low profile? I am having great difficulty in finding the right sort of wheels and I don't have the foggiest idea what size to get 15'' or 16''? Yes, my car knowledge is that deplorable.

With your help, can you advise me where to start. Just to clarify, I DO NOT want to buy wheels that would make me look like a ''boy racer'' if you get what I mean?. Just netural, but smart.

Many thanks

Nicholas

Welcome.

My advice would be to pop along to your nearest alloy wheels centre and they will put some wheels against your car and show you how they will look.

If you don't want cheap boyracer stay clear of black and 5 spokes these are the most common wannabe styles at the moment.

first things first you dont own a MKII :)

D'oh. It's an Renault Clio RSI. I suppose that's a MKII? Gets me from A to B. That's what counts.;)

Yes, visiting a local Alloy garage sounds a good idea. Would you recommend any specific size alloys? Some say 16''.

Welcome mate. You've come to the right place for advice on subtle mods. We're fans of subtle mods rather than larish max-power bodykits and the such like.

Get a side-on pic of your car posted up and some ideas of what type of wheel you like and i'm sure someone will photoshop from there.

Choosing the style of wheel is the hardest thing, choosing the size and tyres is easy in comparison.

i had a MKI as my first car, Mark II came in 98 > . I had 16 inch alloys on it and also lowered it slightly and when i had people in the car suffered a slight amount of scrapping on the rear arches.

If your not too bothered about ooking too boy racer'y then i would suggest the OZ alloys from the original 172. My brother has them on his mark 1 and they really nice.

Welcome to CS.

Maybe some standard alloys of another Clio model will give a subtle look to your car?

Yes, I quite like the idea of another set of modern Clio wheels. Maybe Renault UK might be able to help with a new set.

I don't know why, but boy racers image scares me. Please excuse my daft expression.

Funnily enough, my Father used to own a Clio Williams back in 2000. Great car it was.

I have to say, I quite like the style. It's subtle, but therefore enough. 16'' circumference sounds the absolute maximum without any lowering which I have no intention to do.

Mmmm, decisions, decisions, decisions.....

Many thanks for all your great help.

Are you able to point out some pictures anywhere of what they look like?

Nice colour Clio

Personally I would just put some wheels from a Renault 19/Clio 16 valve on the car....would look neat without being OTT/boyracer.

That red car looks sweet. I'd say stick with Renault standard wheels, but do not buy them direct form Renault! ££££££!!!!
