Fitting De-Cat

  RS Clio 200
Is it something i can do myself? or does it require some unknown skill to get the cat off?

am i right in thinkin its just 4 bolts holding the cat on? so just remove and bolt on de-cat, job done..

Its not that easy!

The bolts on a 172 are in a very awkward place on springs... you will need 2 x people and a flexi extn for your sockets.

Or do what I did and get someone else to worry about it.

^^^ You know you all love it ^^^ lol :D

Oh and I forgot to add - I would advise you to buy a new mani to cat gasket and bolt kit fom renault.

ive jsut done it this weekend, its not simple but not hard, u will need two people though as its awkward.

there is also ur lambda sensors, well first one, tape the second one up to stop light coming on, so they say anyway.

Did you try it with both sensors fitted?

There's something about 172 Cups that means often the dash-light won't show even if both sensors are in.

Mine's been fitted for almost a year now, well over 20,000 miles, and my light's never lit up :D

  Turbos.
The hard bit is the front end, the back is easy.

Should be able to do it in an hour, it all depends how easily everything wants to come apart!

Personally i would take it to a garage who can replace the exhaust gasket for you. If you find it blowing, at least it's someone elses responsibility.

yea mine took about an hour.

i havent tried it with both connected but i cant be done with having to take it to reno to get reset,

when i say tape it up ull see when u do it that the sensor wires go into a connector block. basically put both sensors into exhaust to seal it then what i did was put a small bag over each connecter block and bag tied them up out of harms way. this is jsut the rear sensor btw, youll still need the first sensor wired in.

u think its worth trying mark, fitting back one?? any advantages to it running wise?

Iv put a high flow cat on mine and have started getting trubble with the lamba sensors casing the engine management light to come one. Would the tape method work on mine and how do you do it exactly?

Cheers fellas
