Fitting lowering springs!?

I have recenlty bought a set of srpings for my 1999 clio 1.2 and am going to attepmt to fit them today.What do i need and how do i do it??

the nut that holds all the gubbins above the spring onto the shocker.

u can do if u want, just be carefull as i compressed spring flying off into your car or even worse your face wont look pretty

Dont encourage him. Get yourself a set of spring compressors, I've seen plenty of nasty injurys and trips to hospital as a result of trying to do a job with the wrong tools or taking short cuts.

I agree with Loony use cpring compressore only after you've done a few you'll know what you need to do it without. Trying to save a fe quid just because someoen else who'd done it loads of time beford and knows how to do it says its ok isn't a good idea.

I'm sure a surgeon would say a liver transplants easy but would you fancy doing one?

i didnt need the compressors to take the old springs off but i needed them to put the new springs on, but if in doubt use them

Dont be cheap.. that 20 quid could save your life .. there is a lot of stored energy in a compressed spring and you dont want it coming your way !

Finially finished my springs now! i did the first without springs but couldnt get the new spring on so went and got some spring compressers and then did both sides!im just gona take it for a spin now!

Improved handling but the steering seems to stick if i let go it will glide to either left or right alot also steering feels heavier!hmmm

172 don't need spring compesseors as vitally as the nione 172/182 's do.

Old springs were very worn or were sporty lowering ones anyway.

They don't jump much stock springs, they should jump about an inch or so

Get your tracking checked.. but normally if the tracking was thrown out the steering tends to go light.. :S
