flashed by gatso, any advice

i was doing 37 in a 30 though i thought it was a 40, it was on a dual carrigeway in worthing, i thought it was 40 because it was a dual carrige way, is there anyway of my getting out of this? i know theres no fool proof solution but i want to try something when teh letter comes through instead of taking it lieing down as to speak, at least then ill know ive tryed, whats the best thing i could do to try and avoid the points, ill only be able to try one thing to get out of it obviously so whats the best?

thanks for any advice

only thing u can do is see if the speed limit signs are obscured in any way, if not, wait and prey!

  Shhh

Ask to view the picture via post. If it is you, or they say they are not going to show you, to view it you have to goto court. Sometimes the picture can be incorrect / bad / another car in it and you can get a warning

If you were speeding, then you were speeding, 31 in a 30 is speeding, accept it or appeal it and get a larger fine.

There are lots of things that could have been wrong...it might not have been you driving, it might have been another car the same as yours with false plates, there could be other cars in the frame, the gatso timing could be out, the speed limit may be illegal. TBH youve already admitted you were driving, and its tricky to keep fronting of you know that it actually was you and can remember it happening LOL

Best bet is the illegal limit thing. If you went back tonight and took some photos and it was clear that there were no limit signs, or a previous 40 limit hadnt been adequately and clearly changed, then youve got a case. Perhaps only the posts were there and someone had removed the actual signs from them...

Not all have film in, my brother has been flashed twice in his scoobie and NOT got done once yet?? and that was over one year ago?

Simon.

arnt they all done digitally now though? the girl i was with said that the camera is always flashing so if they are done by film, i might be lucky, also i have 16s my car came with 13s so my speedo will show that im going slower than i actualy am? so it was showing 37 wheres as i might have been doing 40? or isit the other way round it will be showing im going faster where as im actualy going a bit slower?

the sign wasnt obscured in anyway, i went back after getting flashed to look, it was one of those little circle ones on the side on a lamp post not one of the big circle ones

BEST thing to do mate is ask to see a copy of the calibration records for the cam for this date as you dont think you were speeding. Many of the cams are not calibrated meaning the speed could actually be out. With out this they arent able to fine you. Friend of mine done this and never heard nothing more from them. hopefully it will work for you mate.

f**k all that crap if you live at home, with mum and dad, just leave it ,the police will turn up,then get your dad to just say does not live here anymore.....then just lay low for a few years then you will be ok......i did 120 past a speed cam twice in a 60 zone, and i did this.....and got away with it too,it would have bin 2 bans if the pigs had got me!!!!!hehe...but they didnt..

Yeah thats a good idea. Just lay low for a few years. Grow a tash and wear sunglasses all the time.

Thatd be the best option. If you challenge them they may decide they cant be arsed with all the hassle. On the other hand it might make them more determined to give you points and a juicy fine. Firstly id wait to see if you hear anything, as just as often you get flashed and nothing comes of it.

In a built up area the speed limit is 30 unless there are 40 signs, so you can always know when its 40 MPH..good luck

when you say Worthing am i right in think thats Worthing, West Sussex. Worthing currently only have 1 camera that they move around to the various camera sites in the area. So you might have been lucky and there wasnt a camera in it.

The bit of dual carridgeway (broadwater road) has always been 30MPH. if you dont here anything after 2 weeks are so then you should be ok. i have been walking done that road many times and the camera has flashed even when there are no cars about.

yes mate i think it was that bit of road, though i dont know the area and its the first time ive ever been there

when you say there might not have been a camera init what do you mean?

my mate contested his ticket went to court got

£100 fine

£40 court costs

3 points

and lost a days wages because he didnt any holiday left

you cant beat the system any more they have got wise to it

if he just bit the bullit hed of got £60 and 3 points

when i say ther might not have been a camera in it i mean just that. The actual camera unit might not have been installed at that location on that particular day, they move it about around the various camera sites in worthing, so when tha flash (which is installed on all camera site) went off there might not have been a camera installed there to actually record the offence.

give it a couple of weeks if you havent had anything through the post you should be ok

  car? need a license 1st!

sit and wait for a couple of weeks, if you dont hear anything then great, u could have got away with it.

If you hear somthing, take the fine, its your own fault for speeding. You cant cheat the system. Learn from your mistakes

I think its a total p take that if you go to court the fine goes up.

Why for fs sakes?

Are you not allowed to plead innocence. Yes, in an ideal world if you are innocent then you will be aquitted and not receive a fine but you end up getting some k**b judge who will do you over without using discretion.

Its like saying "cop this £60 fine innocent or not, because if you go to court and get found guilty (even though you may be innocent just unable to prove it) then youll get whacked with £200 fine instead."

Hurrah for British justice.

you did the crime so pay the fine!

Youre not at school now, if you do something wrong then you have to pay the consequences and maybe you will learn from it.

LOL Chris 1.4RT youve pretty much said it all mate. Thats how our legal system works. But the flipside is that if youre sure that you didnt do it and you can afford a lawyer, you can really stitch them up good and proper and get the CPS to pay the costs. The reason why this doesnt happen very often, is cos most people who get caught speeding, were speeding.

ha ha!! ill go with nick read.

the reason they stich you up more at court is because i suppose the magistrate gets pissed off with speeders pleading innocence when they are guilty, hence the fine goes up.

i am not saying you are guilty or any other member of CS is guilty. (sorry.. got a hard time on another topic)

good luck!!
