Flat spot

Does anybody else find that when accelerating hard and changing up, that the car seems to stop pulling until you let off the gas and put your foot down again?

I truly hope that its not a problem with the car, I have had it 8 weeks and its already had a new engine loom, gearbox and fuse board.

Possibly just my driving!!!

Try turning off the air con and it might feel a bit different. Personally I think it uses some of the power - and a lot of extra fuel!

Do you think there is a drain from the climate control even when the a/c light isnt on?

I have considered the a/c effect as both of my previous cars performance were dramatically affected

its another pully on the car all of which will sap power but the effect is fairly small until the a/c is on as the clutch unit in the compressor will engage/have more resistance when its on.

supposedly you lose anything upto 10% in power from the a/c compressor being on and running, this is in general not just applicable to clios its not overly noticeable but there will definatley be a loss of power to a lesser or greater extent when the a/c is switched on

are you changing geer on the gear change light, or before ?

If your gearchage is bringing you in before 5000RPM you will get a delay before you get the full pull again.

AFAIK Climate control without the aircon light should make NO difference at all! Its just maintaining a set temperature in the cabin by varying the speed and temperature of the airflow. If it needs to be significantly lower, it will kick the aircon in, but when it isnt, it wont be any different to a non-climate control car twisting their temperature dial up and putting the fan on full speed! Someone correct me if Im wrong!

geof cant you feel the car literally slow down when you turn ac on i can its like someones pressing the brakes.

The 172 mk2 is on fly by wire throttle and you do not always get the throttle butterfly fully open when you give full throttle on the pedal. The ecu controls your engine now not you.

I cant feel any difference in performance when the a/c is on, but I believe that there may be a loss in power that is why I make sure it is off when I want to cane it.

The best way to notice the A/C unit sapping power is to be trvelling along with A/C off, pick a constant speed, guessing aroung something like 4,000rpms and the hit the demist button.

its at the bottom right of your instrument panel and looks like a green gearstick.. should come on about 6750rpm or there abouts.

someone took a pic of it in action.. do a search on it and you will probably find the thread.

yes, this could be the cause.

If i acc very hard suddenly while already cruising along, the engine growls deeply, but...- its almost like its having a little think about the command youve just given it - and then the acceleration matches the rising noise levels. Its not clutch clip, I know that.

In that case, its not working. I did a search and it all seems a little random, either it works or not! Just booked the car into the dealership next sat for some other stuff so they can look at that too whilst its there.

Scudetto, thats exactly the symptoms I was trying to explain. :D
