flooding?

got a problem with my '97 clio 1.4 maxim, sometimes when you start it, it turns a couple of times then sounds like it going to start but doesnt quite get going, so go to start it again and it will turn 20 or 30 times before it 'starts', but it doesnt start properly it starts 'chugging' like an old plane engine and eventually gets up to speed but as soon as u hit the gas pedal the revs drop and you have to hold it for a bit so they rise but then if u get going the revs will rise, pause and sometime even drop as they please. is this a stciking choke or something?

sounds like an intake problem. Check your vaccum hoses, map sensor hose etc. Take the airbox off and see if it still does it.

Also how long has it been doing it?
