Formatting Hard Drive?

How do you format a Hard Drive?

Odd question, but in the past I've always had a recovery disc which has done it for me. Now I just have my copy of windows, which I want to put onto the Hard Drive once everything's been wiped clean, but obviously I can't format the HD whilst in Windows, because it's using part of the HD to run the OS.

So, how?

Boot from the windows disc.

First delete the partition, then you can format.

Ah, there's where I went wrong, I think I just tried to reinstall over the old partition...

Will have a go tomorrow, cheers ears.
