Freezing with strange pixels on PC

  Bus Winker
I've just tried playing a few games on my PC. They last about 10 minutes and I get a loud buzzing sound and the screen looks like the below image.
This is with a GTX 470.

Anyone had this before or know why it happens?

I hate to say it, but IIRC I had similar with my 8800GTX which then went to a blue screen and the card failing altogether, the only GPU I've ever had to bin.

Could this happen if it is overheating? I opened the case up last night and noticed I stupidly had the card in the bottom slot meaning the fan couldn't get any air. This was probably because the cards used to be in SLi configuration so there wasn't much room.

It could be overheating but that tends to manifest itself as small white pixels over the screen, make sure you clear the dust from the heat sync on it though. Tried a different cable to the monitor? Ya never know!

My 8800GTX was XFX also, I doubt its overheating, there was no way mine could have been effected by it.

Ok looks like in going to need a new graphics card. Any suggestions? I want to be able to play Battlefield 4 mainly.
