Frenchy need your help for a BIG trip In United Kingdom !

  clio 182 & clio dci
hi all !

I'm asking for your advice about a trip in United Kingdom

I want to travel around the UK (Google traduction said : to tour the UK ). discover england, scotland, wales,...

I have created an itinerary on googlemap for to show you my idea.

Obviously, i choose some random city because for the moment i don't know yet the places that worth the trip.

a copy of the itinerary ;) :

here

the aim is to discover your beautiful country, its landscapes :approve:, its history :coffee:, its roads :race:, its inhabitants :drunk:. I know that it's impossible to see everything. i don't want to go too fast, i want to take time to discover what it is also possible, what is really worth seeing (i'm not sure about this translation )

For the moment, i only have 16 days of holidays in december to make this trip but i am currently negotiating for having 24 days of holidays :p.

If it's not possible for this year, i can better prepare it for the next summer

Forgive my mistakes if my English is not perfect and if i create this thread in the wrong section;

I'm listening to your opinions, advice, possible path ;)

It looks like you have a lot planned! If it was me, I'd head to the very north of Scotland, the landscapes and the roads are fantastic. My dad absolutely loves it up there. It might also be worth seeing a bit more of north Wales. Also, the national parks dotted across the UK are worth a visit, the Lake District and the Peak District are really beautiful.

Also, I'd save it until summer, the south of France is one thing in December, most of the UK is another! I love France, it is a magnificent country and I spent 2 fanastic weeks there this summer, I just hope you find your trip here as pleasant.

If you going to do Wales, go right to the west coast and up. Pembrokeshire is nice. Although that road through Wales that you have on your map does have a very nice driving road through the middle of a valley.

The route looks good but id seriously consider arranging it for summer, point G on your map is as far north as gothenburg so expect v bad weather.

avoid england and wales and go straight to scotland ;)

what car are you taking out of curiosity, just remember up north especially in december you could end up stranded if it snows!!

Scotland in December may leave you snowbound so if you are coming in December then stay further south, Cornwall, Devon and Dorset are nice places to go. If you come in the summer then Scotland, Wales and the Lake Districts are a treat for the eyes and the car as well, probably best to come in the DCI, softer suspension, our roads are not as good as in Frenchyland.

On your way to point D try going over the Yorkshire moores, drove them a few times and they never fail to impress :) as above though if you are coming late in the year prepare for some strange snow storms ! If you get stuck anywhere near point D gimme a shout on here, I'm sure I can help ya out :)
Some very nice road's near Aberdeen too, drove them a few times :)

  None :(
Good to see you wanted to visit Gloucestershire!

Come say hello when you're in the area! My dads french so he can do the translating!!!

But as others have said, fair play if you are doing it in the winter, bring some snow chains!!!

thank you all for your help !

i forget the snow problem ! Perhaps it is better to mount snow tires instead of chains is not it? but i willnot use them again after the trip because in south of France,... there isn't snow !

But i think that i will follow your advice and perhaps spend less time on parts of central and southern of UK and go in the north of scotland

I have a clio 182 so in France, Renault prohibits chains, so i can't take some chain ? !

if you have names of cities that are on the way and are interesting to see, tell me their name !

I'll change my route, but it also requires me to learn some place name that you use because I do not know the names of all your parts!
