Hmmm thatll probably be your crossover then.

It splits the signal between the woofer and the tweeter so the right speaker gets the right frequency range of sounds.

Yes its a good thing. Its pretty common on decent speakers. Obviously it costs more to produce so cheap ones may not have them or a similar thing might be in-line - (normally on the tweeter).

Basically it separates mid sounds from the highs, sends the highs to the tweeters (called so cos they do the high pitch sounds tweet tweet), and the mids to the midrange.

It is a better arrangement but more difficult to set up. If going from your H/U the wire needs to go to the crossover then follow the instructions for connecting the tweet and mid.

My present arrangement means I have an RCA lead going from H/U to amp, then speaker wire running from amp to a crossover under the dash (behind the dials). it then separates and a new wire runs from the crossover to the tweet in the dash and another wire i chopped in with the OE loom to the speaker in the door. Saves messing about with that loom of wires in the doors lol.

Most people go for co-axials to save time and money. They have the tweeter built in to the centre of the mid cone. Theyre ok if you got about £50 budget.

But if you got a bit more cash and patience get some nice Comps, I have Magnats in mine and they sound much better.

I was lazy and got a shop to fit mine when they did the alarm, wish Id done it myself now though. They put the tweeters in the original holes behind the dash grilles. Dont like them there. They bulge out slightly and for better sound they need to be higher up and away from the mids.

Also, being the lucky guy that I am the wire broke some where between along the line and I cant find it so I have a mid not working!

When the weather is better Il sort all this out!
