front diamond prep?

how much does the front diamond need to be preped? does it need to go down to the base layer or just scratch the shinney surface?

Doesn't need to go to the base layer just do it so it's not shiny.

I did one (albeit I don't think the laquer hardened enought before it got marked), basically just scrubed it so it looked to be like stainless steel, then primed over that.

Sand it down a bit and a coat or two of primer and it'll be fine
