FSE power boost valve question..

  None
Are these worth using on tuned cars e.g cars with fast road cams etc or standard cars?? Whats thr pro's and con's of using these??

Not really worth it as the std item is *usually* more than up to the job.

On your car however, your ECU is mapped incredibly lean esp top end so anything you can do to get more fuel in is a good thing. My plan with the cam and head was to have a PBV and uprate the fuel pump to 16v spec as the std 1.2 item (reg and pump) is only rated to 3bar.

I have seen a pbv for sale already set to let in the maxmium amount of fuel it will allow or something - is that worth getting at all??

No that means the seller has just cranked the pressure up to the max which is dangerous, not mention will waste a lot of fuel. The setting of the PBV has to optimised for the car on a rolling road or such like.

There sh*t !
Had one on my Pug 306 S16 , set up on a rollin road by a reputable garage and it f*cked up the fueling and put the ecu into backup mode .
So the garage took it off and refunded me my money .
Waste of money imo .

only really worthwhile on highly tuned cars that are going to be receiving a full live remap at that set fuel pressure.

theyre just an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

on a standard map they will just make your car overfuel.

i had a 2wd sierra cossie fuel pressure regulator.
these are adjustable as standard and ALOT more reliable than an fse power boost valve.. cheaper.. and smaller.

do the same job.

Yes, they will make your car overfuel but this is precisely what maxx needs and his ECU is mapped too lean. Fair enough he could fork out for a remap but the PBV option is a cheaper route.

Best mod I got on my 1.2....when it was fitted it wasn`t set up properly...when I went back a while later on the rollers he adjusted it slightly having seen that the fuel wasn`t right....made a big difference to almost every aspect...especially low speeds in high gears...I found I didn`t need to change down every 2 mins to accelerate anywhere

You can also use a williams/16v std fuel regulator in place of your current item to raise the fuel rail pressure to 3.5bar...i would also recommend getting a 16v pump as the std 1.2 item is only rated to 3 bar and will go item meltdown.

What PBVs??

No not higher engine wear, just pump wear if your pump is inadequate; obviously if you whack it up to 3.5 bar your standard 3bar pump will have to run flat out and won't last long.

They cause bore wash and are a bodge. The only correct way is a remap. Anyone that tells you different doesn't understand!

listen to this man^^ theyre a waste of money UNLESS your car is being mapped for that fuel pressure..

if your car is mapped lean.. get it remapped, dont just up the fuel pressure as it wont make the mixture perfect throughout the rev range.

may be ok mid range but mega rich at the top end reducing power. or so on

I disagree.

0.5bar or thereabout isn't going to damage anything, it will however make an improvement...as i said the map on the cars is mega lean top end so you need it richer.

I do agree a remap would help control things better but if the cars physical components cant supply the fuel needed then your pissing in the wind! Get the better pump and regulator then think about remapping IF you need it.

Even then you could be beyond the working range of the injectors, use the correctly mapped and matched injectors.

You dont understand, do some research;)
