fit a mk2 one!!!

Think its not that simple.. as in its been tryed and wasn't an easy// doable swap... cant remember.. i could be lieing!

The recess in the bootlid is different though...

Mk2 ph1 is narrower in size (80mm)
Mk2 ph2 (130mm)

New tailgate required if you don't want a bodge job...

There's 1 screw holding the grab panel on into the boot... and about 6 plastic pop rivets.

pop off the cover and then there's 2 screws holding the lock to the boot :)

i'll go and take some progress pics... waiting for the 2nd coat of laquer to dry now :)

waiting for it all to dry now :)

You've done a good job there fUbs, will look forward to seeing the pics when you've put them all on. I wouldn't dare try and spray anything myself as I've discovered in the past I'm useless!

The badges look great :approve:

Nice fUbAr they look sweet, do you think the paint will match though?

sprayings easy, I decided this didn't look right though. Was a slight different colour to the used 172 grab handles I got.

its all worked well and the colour match is spot on.

i ordered the paint in from Renault to be certain :)

all ive fitted so far is the boot lock cos i didnt want to leave the tape on all night... and its too dark to fit the other bits now.

im most impressed with my badges now they're finished... a real factory look :approve:

Very nice - Looking good, love the side badges.

You using rattle cans?

If so there is not a lot he can do about the paint match. Hopefully the can will be a good match.

Edit seen the above post - leave them to dry as long as you can before fitting.

yeah they'll be sat in the warm for a couple of days first.

only fitted the boot lock in a hurry for security reasons... if it needs re-doing in the morning then so be it :)

and yes... more DIY articles, watch THIS space :)

Of course, worst comes to the worst, let the paint hardern, then wet sand and polish the painted boot lock.

cool thanks... will save me starting it again if its fucked in the morning.

Its getting damp out there so my bets is that i'll need to do something to it. Only had about 2 hours to harden

No probs, will save you starting again if the moisture does dull the surface.

Allow it to cure for a few weeks, then polish it up and that may be enough, at worst a light wet sand and a polish will sort it.

question... should i paint the little centre bit of the lock? i mean the bit you push in to open the boot?
