Fuel Additives

  Clio v6

Does anyone use these products in their tank?

Are any gains really noticable?

Do they cause damge?

Is it all just a gimmick?

Your advice/comments please.

Ive used Slick 50 injector cleaner on previous cars. Maybe my imagination but thought the throttle response improved after using the tankfull with additive. Also idled a bit more smoothly. People doing short journeys are probably more likely to notice a difference due to the engines running rich and not heating up properly. This will choke up the injectors after a while.

As for octane boosters ...havent tried these. Should have tried these when I had my Audi S2 as it was very octane sensitive.

Ive used STP, Redex Injector Plus and Slick 50 and they are all good. Notice the difference once the tank of fuel/cleaner has been used as engine seems quieter and runs better. Heard it is not advisable using them too often, just when needed every 6K or so.

I use Nitrox Hot Shot about every month and it seems to work... Also use STP Twinpack which has an Injector cleaner & Octane booster... Dont expect any major gains though...

At the end of the day its in everyones interest to keep their car running like new, hece why regular oil and coolant changes help, sparkplugs, filters etc and cleaning additives to try and help keep injectors and everything flowing like they should.
