Gear linkages and Starter Motor swaps.

Are the above jobs simple enough?

I have a friend selling his MK1 Valver, Has a new 'box on it, and he has a new starter motor for it. but the linkages on the 'box aren't all working, and the new starter needs to go in...

I'm reasonable with cars, but have never attempted this sort of this on a renault... Anything I should look out for?

Starter motor is simle enoguh, just a c**t to get to and get out

For gear lingage i'm guessing he removed it at the wrong place, can change the length of the gear linkage to adjust it so can get all the gears
