Gearbox change and service light?

Service light.

A 172 im looking at has recently had a new gearbox and the seller says the service light is on but will go off with a reset and its been on since the gearbox change,does this sound right?

I know its to indicate a small problem and usually needs to go on a diagnostics machine?

I wouldn't worry about the light.

Gearboxes are common faults. They're not the strongest/people don't treat them too well.

Ive had 2 gearboxes in mine! Its never set the service light on! In my experiance the serv light doesnt come on when the gearbox is changed!
