SLK 350
Hi folks,
On way back from work today I noticed towards the end of my journey that the gearbox felt a bit scratchy, what i mean is when moving into gear the transition wasnt smooth, it didn't clunk/jerk/grind/crunch but it just felt a bit spongy and a bit scratchy.
Looked under the car, and the linkage seems to be where it should be, I can't see any debris trapped in the mechanism either. Nor can i see, or have i noticed any oil dripping from the car. The cars done 53K on a 53 plate, and its had the main engine oil changed ever 5k since i've owned it.
One thing i havent done is change the gearbox oil, as i thought it was good for 72k~ and therefore hadn't planned to change it just yet.
Anyway long and short of it is, i've had no difficulties prior to this drive home, i havent noted any other issues with it apart from the usual sh1tty Clio gearbox but i was hoping someone chould shed some light on it for me.
For all i know it could just need some grease on the inside of the gaitor, or on the linkage itself, but im more concerned that the oil could have deteriated and i don't want to cause damage to the box.
Any ideas?
Cheers.
