gearbox leak

Spoke to fred on the phone and said id get a pic for him.

The 2 black lines i have drawn are 2 drips which i assume can give some idea as to where its leaking from.

I know they all leak, but this has got worse, i left the car at home for 3 days to find a decent size pool of oil under the box.


The only thing i have done which i thought could be a cause is use castrol 75w 80 instead of the elfe equivalent, but it was to all the same standards as the elf so assume it was ok to use.

as tight as i can do it, doesnt appear to be leaking from there though

no you're right it doesn't look like it is, but oil mist blowing aorund can make things hard to trace. TBH it's almost certain to be coming from the linkage

so cant be anything to do with wrong oil or anything daft then?

Is the linkage something that can be fixed without taking the box apart?

I have managed to get hold of a two piece oil seal kit for the input shaft so you don't have to strip the box.

twisting the screws, with a little Loctite.

I have to remove the box for the same. You lose lots of fluids

Do you mean seal the torts with locktite on the box???

Yes, only on the screws.
The screws are out because of overwork.

This week, if I have time, I will remove the box for repair.

Just found a nice new patch of oil under the gearbox this afternoon so could do with getting it looked at but my closest specialist is rs tuning in leeds.

How much money we thinking?
