Gearbox leaking? (Pictures)

  TrackCar & F30 330d
Basically, changed the driveshaft 2 weeks ago. found quite a lot of oil and rubbish on the plastic tray under the engine/gearbox. I cleaned the tray and replaced it.

Then a few days ago i saw the cv joint actually had a little hole and all the grease has come out so i changed the boot for the old boot.

Anyway the tray had oil on it again (only a little from the CV boot). Anyone know what could be leeking from the pictures?

check the ring seals around the driveshafts wher it goes into the gearbox, when putting drive shafts in its very easy to knock them out of place. also, smell the oil, gearbox oil is the worst smell in the world, its kind of smells a bit like onion! only other oil that smells like that is CV grease and thats thick and black. should narrow it right down.

gear oil and PAS fluid are v similar, although, if there's a red tint to the oil, it'll be PAS fluid

need to have a good look underneath the car to see where it's coming from

could be PAS but then the resi is very small for the PA so would be picked up by noteing the level on the resi. however due to him recently having new shafts in it sounds very likly to be the gearbox seals. pull back the boot going to the box on the shafts and check around the seal, both of them. if it is the seals its not to expensive but if its engine oil your in for a world of pain! maybe your lucky and its just some cv grease that was stuck somewhere getting hot and liquidating!
